Deadline Extended!
The deadline for abstract submission for the 2008 TERMIS-AP meeting has been extended to 15th September. If you are a student or a young investigator, there are even more reasons for you to submit an abstract!
The TERMIS-AP Student and Young Investigator Section (SYIS) and the 2008 TERMIS-AP Meeting Committee are pleased to announce that student travel awards, best oral and poster presentation awards will be presented at the meeting. There will also be several other events at the meetings for SYIS participants: SYIS Meet-and-Greet at the Welcome Reception, a "Student-Mentor" breakfast to allow young scientists to interact with selected leaders of the field, a SYIS Career Center to bring together jobseekers and the employers, a tour of labs in the National Taiwan University, as well as a Taipei Night Walk to catch a glimpse of the exciting night life of Taipei.
Best Oral and Poster Presentation Awards
3 oral and 5 poster presentation awards will be awarded at the meeting. All oral and poster presentations, with a SYIS participant* as the presenting author at the meeting, would be automatically eligible for the awards. No separate application is required.
Student Travel Awards
5 Student Travel Awards would be awarded to selected eligible* participants. Authors interested in the Student Travel Awards need to complete a short application form and email it to Mr. Danny Lee at d9632806@oz.nthu.edu.tw with the following information:

SYIS delegates can mingle and interact with each other during and after the Welcome Reception.

Open to all SYIS delegates. Number of seats would be limited.
Date: 7:30-8:30am, November 8th
Students and young investigators would get a chance to interact with world-renowned academic and industrial investigators in the field of Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine. This will be an opportunity for students and young investigators to have their questions answered by established research leaders, in a relaxed and open discussion, over a breakfast.
The list of mentors and their biodatas will be available soon on this webpage. Students and young investigators will be assigned to tables based on their mentor preferences. Selections will be made on a first-come-first-serve basis.
SYIS Career Center
Open for all.
Date: November 7th - 8th
Location: SYIS booth in exhibition hall
The SYIS Career Center aims at enhancing professional opportunities for the attendees of the upcoming TERMIS-AP Meeting. Lab Tour to the National Taiwan University
Open for all TERMIS-SYIS delegates
Date: November 6th afternoon
A lab tour would be organised to the Tissue Engineering labs of National Taiwan University on the afternoon of 6th November. Participants would get an opportunity to have a closer look at the laboratories, after which they will be guided to the Chien-Tan Overseas Youth Activity Center for the Welcome Reception.
Interested delegates are requested to email Dr. Jui-Yang Lai jylai@mail.cgu.edu.tw. Seats would be limited and selections will be made on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Taipei Night Walk (more details coming soon)

Date: November 7th night
Location: Shilin night market
Following the Conference Banquet on November 7th, we will be holding a short tour of some of the local attractions in the city of Taipei. Enjoy this chance to meet and network with students and young investigators from around the world who are attending the TERMIS-AP meeting!
We encourage you submit an abstract for the meeting (if you haven't already done so) and return to this page for more updates on the student awards and events.

* Student: Individuals who are engaged as full-time graduates or undergraduates in a university or college program, and are actively involved in research in the field of tissue engineering.
Young Investigators: Persons who are employed by an academic institution in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, who have been awarded their doctoral degree within the past 3 years and who are not holding an appointment as a faculty or academic staff in a university/research institute.
