Welcome to the 2007 TERMIS-EU Chapter Meeting!

Presented by the European Chapter of TERMIS with the UK Tissue & Cell Engineering Society

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the TERMIS-EU chapter, it is a pleasure to invite you to the 1st Annual Meeting in London from 4th - 7th September 2007 (also the 6th annual European Conference of our Society after the ETES-TESi merger). The London meeting will aim to reflect the pivotal changes coming to both our Society and its science.

A theme of innovation and excellence will be set by its venue at the heart of a great international capital and European Centre of Biomedical research. Its mix of cell & developmental biologists, materials scientists, engineers, nanotechnologists, computer modellers, imaging and monitoring biophysicists as well as clinical specialists from orthopaedics, cardiovascular, maxillofacial, ocular and plastic surgery will guarantee it is multi-disciplinary.

Young scientists will be encouraged within a UK Tissue and Cell Engineering Society session.

European funding and research will be highlighted and a showcase session will encourage presentations from Eastern areas of Europe. Conference themes will reflect the traditions of John Hunter (1728-17993, Scientific Surgeon) and Sir Peter Mansfield (Nobel Laureate 2003 for MRI Imaging) to focus on surgical innovations and progress in nano-micro bioengineering.

The venue is stunning between the lakes, tennis courts and rose gardens of London's largest Royal Park, within walking distance of the British Museum, Theatreland and Madame Tussauds, not to mention the shops in Oxford Street, Karl Marx's local pub, Sherlock Holmes' apartment and Alexander Fleming's laboratory. So why not soak up the science and stay on for the museums and London's Carnival Week.

We look forward to seeing you in 2007.
