About Granada

How to get to Granada

By plane: Airport information

Granada is situated in the southernmost region of Spain, Andalusia. It has a modern network of roads and motorways, allowing for easy access. The national airport, Aeropuerto de Granada - Jaén Federico García Lorca is 14 Km from the centre of the town, where the venue of the meeting is allocated.

If you arrive at the Granada airport, the most convenient way to reach to Granada city centre is probably to get a taxi at the airport main entrance. The taxi costs about 28 € from the airport to the city centre. There is also a confortable airport bus service which takes you to the centre of Granada in about 20-25 min. The bus times tie in with all the flights. The ticket costs 3 €. The last stop of the bus is the congress venue (Palacio de Congresos), close to Hotel Saray, Hotel San Antón, Hotel Senator and many other hotels.

By car: Motorways information

A-92, is connected to Seville in 2.5 hours time and to Malaga in 1, 2 hours time via the A-92 motorway, making Granada an excellent start point for a visit to Andalusia. The motorway A-44 is connected Motril, Tropical Coast, in only 45 minutes.

Malaga airport is 125km from Granada and has numerous national and international flight connections.

Getting from Malaga airport by bus

You can get a bus from Malaga airport directly to Granada bus station. It leaves everyday at 11:30 and at 18:30. It takes two and a half hours (it has several stops). The price is 9.83 €. To buy tickets online visit www.alsa.es.

Getting from Malaga by bus

This is a new shuttle bus (Line A) which connects Malaga Airport with the city bus station, the sixth stop on the route. The single fare is 2.00 € and you can buy the ticket on the bus. The journey takes about 20 minutes. The bus stop is on the arrivals forecourt of Terminal 3 and the buses run every 30 minutes from 7:00 to 24:00. You can also get a line 19 bus, every 30 minutes, from 7:00am to 24:00pm (ticket costs 1 €)

Another option to reach the Malaga bus station from Malaga airport is to get the train. It departures every 30 minutes, from 6.36 am to 23:26 pm, and the ticket costs 1.05 €. A taxi will charge you about 20 €.

There is a bus every hour from the Malaga bus station to Granada (from 7:00 am until 21:00 pm). The price is 9.83 €. It takes about 1:45 h (128 kms). To buy tickets online visit www.alsa.es. You can check times and prices and even choose your seats.

If you miss the last bus to Granada, you can catch the 21.30 bus (Malaga-Guadix) which stops in Granada at 23.00. Failing that, you will have to get a hotel in Malaga or get a taxi.

Once you arrive to Granada bus station you have to reach the congress venue (Palacio de Congresos de Granada). You will find many taxis at the main entrance of the bus station. The trip to the congress venue is about 15-20 min and costs around 10 €. Another option is to take a bus at the bus station. Line number 3 has its first stop at the bus station and its last stop at the Palacio de Congresos. The ticket is 1.10 € and you pay directly to the bus driver.

Getting from Malaga in a Hire car

Most companies have pick-up and drop-off points both at Malaga airport, Granada airport and in the centre of Granada.

Average prices are about 36 € for the economic option, 52€¬ for the standard option and 116 € for the executive option.

Getting from Malaga airport in a taxi

Another good option to get to Granada is clubbing together with 2 or 3 people and get a taxi.

A taxi from Malaga is 150 € during the weekdays and 174 € during the weekends.

You go to the taxi rank at the airport, talk to the taxi drivers and you can try to get a better price.

It takes around one and a half hours.
