Call for Symposia

Call for Symposia is now CLOSED!

1st October 2010 Symposia Submission Opens
20th November 2010 Symposia Submission Deadline

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SYMPOSIA SUBMISSION

The symposia will have a format with a keynote/leading speaker with a 30 (25+5) minute slot and 3-4 additional 15 (12+3) minute talks. The organisers can be creative and have two speakers in the time slot. Confirmation from the Keynote Speaker is essential as part of the proposal.

The later talks can either be invited by the symposia organizers or selected from the submitted abstracts. Each symposium should have an organizer who will also be responsible for selection of the respective Keynote Speaker. It is likely that the organizer may act as the Keynote Speaker or the chair for their own session.

Due to budget constraints the TERMIS conference will not be able to provide financial support for the symposium organizer (that must attend and chair the session) and the symposium Keynote Speaker. However, the registration fee of the symposium Keynote Speaker or the organizer will be waived as determined by the organizers. The total budget for Keynote Speaker or the organizer remains the same for each symposium (i.e. maximum of one registration).

We expect the symposia to be highly competitive. The symposia proposals will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:

  1. relevance to the TERMIS conference theme 'Cells and Tissues as Advanced Therapies'
  2. current scientific impact of the symposium theme proposed

The symposia organizers will be responsible for reviewing the abstracts for their symposium session.

The TERMIS committee reserves the right to cancel a symposium if a critical number of abstracts is not received for the symposium. The committee also expects a diversity of the groups represented in the final choice of abstracts. If the symposium is cancelled the abstracts will be moved to a general session and the abstracts ranked accordingly.

In addition, in a likely scenario that two or more competitive proposals are submitted in the same thematic area the organising committee may request to combine the proposals into one strong symposium.

If you have any doubts or questions regarding the symposia organisation, please let us know. We will be happy to answer all your queries and assist you in every way.
