Council Members

Dr. Sambit Sahoo, Chair-AP
Sambit is a doctoral research student in the Division of Bioengineering at the National University of Singapore. He currently works on tendon and ligament tissue engineering using bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells on novel biohybrid scaffolds. With his background in medicine and bioengineering, he aims to pursue translational research. His other interests lie in networking, entrepreneurship, traveling and photography.

Henry Ko, Vice Chair-AP
Henry is a research student at the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. His research is about vascularising bioengineered tissues in vitro, and how to better characterise these tissues using better histological and image analysis methods. Henry is also a keen biotechnology policy and socio-techno issues communicator, being involved in several initiatives here in Australia and internationally.

Soon-Hee Kim, Secretary-AP
Soon-Hee is a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Gilson Khang, in the Department of Advanced Organic Materials Engineering, at the Chonbuk National University, Korea. Her research interests include intervertebral disc tissue-engineering and spinal cord regeneration, wherein she already has several publications and patents to her credit.

Zheng Ye, Treasurer-AP
Zheng Ye is pursuing his PhD in NUS (Singapore), focusing on ligament/tendon tissue engineering using cell-sheet technique. Originally from south China, Zheng Ye obtained his B.Eng. in Polymer Science and Engineering from Zhejiang University, before embarking on his PhD in 2004. His other interests lie in traveling, photography and basketball.
