Travel

Maastricht is located in the heart of Europe, in the Meuse-Rhine Euro region. The city is surrounded by Belgium and Germany and close to France. Cities such as Liège, Aachen, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Brussels are therefore very near. Maastricht is easily accessible by plane, train and car.

Because of its central location in Europe, Maastricht has a lot of international airports within one hour drive. We advise you to fly to one of the following airports:

  • Brussels Zaventem (intercontinental) - Belgium, 1 hour from Maastricht (with organised shuttle service)
  • Düsseldorf International (intercontinental) - Germany, 1 hour from Maastricht (with organised shuttle service)
  • Schiphol Amsterdam (intercontinental) - The Netherlands, 2.5 hours from Maastricht (has a direct train which takes you to Maastricht in 2.5 hours)

Please note that you can book your flights 9 months prior to the congress, more information will be available on this website.

To complete the accessibility from the airport terminal to the doorstep of your hotel, we will provide shuttle services from and to Brussels Zaventem Airport and Düsseldorf International Airport.
Depending on the average arrivals of the delegates, taxi’s, mini-vans and coaches are available to use as a shuttle. This service will be free of charge and will start one day prior to the start of the congres. Timings and more information will be available next year.

Maastricht has excellent train connections both national and international. Every 30 minutes there is an intercity train connection with Eindhoven, Utrecht and Amsterdam. Frequently there are connections to Liège (Belgium), Brussels (Belgium) and Aachen (Germany) where you can change to international trains – Thalys, TGV, Eurostar – to London, Paris and other European cities. Maastricht has three railway stations: Maastricht Central, Maastricht North and Maastricht Randwyck. From Central you can walk directly into the city centre where many hotels are located. Maastricht North gives you direct access to the city’s suburbs. Randwyck Station is located only 250 meters from the MECC Convention Centre. Also the Academic Hospital (azM), Maastricht University, Maastricht School of Management and many hotels are situated in the Randwyck station area.
